The leather ledge is to be inside the hood. If it’s on the upper rim they won't get good tension. When it’s on the inside it provides resistance to let them pull the outer edge to the holes. Made the band a hair big so they can cut off the extra. When applying hardware its best from the center first, and alternate between left and right while pulling to have a tight fit. Strap goes paint side down.
